Gmail sneaking out?
I just noticed the number of invites I had was 100. Which seems odd, as I swear I only started with 50 and I've sent a few out to various mates.
Anyone else noticed this? Its a different approach I suppose, instead of signing up make it all referals from mates. |
Re: Gmail sneaking out?
Yeah, my invites went from 50 to 100 as well. When I first got in gmail I only had 5, and then it jumped to 50, now 100. I think it is as you mentioned, they are not going to make it where you sign up but need to be referred.

Re: Gmail sneaking out?
Actually, you can already sign up without an invite. I only saw it briefly as I was logging in, but it seems to require a cell phone (the page said register with your mobile phone).
And I have 100 now, as well. I didn't notice until you mentioned it, since I had my invite box collapsed. |
Re: Gmail sneaking out?
Really? Missed that entirely.
I mentioned this to a mate, who pointed out that Google is still being sued here, and in Germany, for copyright infringment. Well it's not sued just 'We registered this copyright first, don't use it in this country.' |

Re: Gmail sneaking out?
A smallish (in comparison) UK firm registered the copyright/trademark GMail and are somewhat miffed that Google is using it. So after about a year of negotiation they're finally taking them to court. Throw in a German firm that's got an injunctino stoping Google using GMail in Germany and things are less than fluffy.

Re: Gmail sneaking out?
No google is just like any other company, they just have a false halo. If you've ever read, just off the top of my head, any MS EULA that's far more un-nerving.

Not _any_ other company, but any other _EVIL_ company...
