Armor rating
I was playing Israel vs Egypt 1993 and it was the last battle of the Camp. and out of nowhere came Egyptian M1A1's, at first I had a feeling that my *** was getting ready to be torn out because my Merkava 3's were hid by smoke and in the wide open desert. At first the M1's engaged and several of my Merkava 3's took hits but still going with no losses, and in return the M1's took several hits (frontal and turret). Now I am a tanker and I know how much armor is in the front, its alot, but my question is when the message popped up with the pen and arm rating I got 112 pen and 1146 arm, does the game calculate ratings that high? I'm not even sure 112 was enough to do anything to the M1's! And what happens to a vehicle if the Pen is higher than the armor and the vehicle isn't destroyed or immobilized? Just wondering how this all works.

Re: Armor rating
I KNEW IT!
I saw an arm 1006 the other day and thought I had misread it. |
Re: Armor rating
Yes, as stated in the manual, and several times on this forum I recall, the horizontal armour-off angle is calculated for. So it is entirely possible to see higer armour ratings defensively if the shot is not coming in at 0 degrees to the facing hit by the incoming shot. Glancing blow - armour defensive value is increased for angle of strike.

Re: Armor rating
nice, makes me feel all warm and fuzzy in side about having to do battle against M1's, I just got lucky that I had Merkava's.
