Re: Stacking the \"Launch Units Remotely\" Command

Personaly, I need a repeat orders for stationary bases. I like to place a space station over a WP, and have it repeat build mines, but there is no way to auto-deploy.

I have done this in Simultaneous Games....but not in turn based games.

Stacking the \"Launch Units Remotely\" Command

I don't know how useful this will be to everybody, but to those who find it tiresome to have to remember to deploy mines every turn because the order to Remotely Launch Units does not stack, here is a simple trick. Simply use the Launch Units remotely command while slightly out of range of your target (a warp point for example) then after the Mine Layer runs out of movement set the ship to repeat orders. This way every launch order gets buffered by a move order, which takes your ship nowhere as you are already on target. Come back an appropriate number of turns later to find all mines launched.

Re: Stacking the \"Launch Units Remotely\" Command

Good tip. It reminds me of something that has been left out of this Version that was in SE3 - there was a command which reduced the movement points for a ship/fleeet to zero. That was really useful when setting up repeat orders.

Something else I'd like to see included (It's all me me me this post- sorry=-)
is a "wait N turns" command.
For example:
-resupply at planet X II
-warp to system Y
-Wait 12 turns (on sentry duty)
-repeat orders.

or

-Move to planet X II
-drop troops
-move to planet Z IV
-wait 3 turns (while new troops are built)
-load troops at planet Z IV
-repeat orders

This would be useful for setting up patrols, unit shipments and for co-ordinating attacks. I could have a far more automated war machine with that command=-)

The ultimate extension of this (which would probably require an unreasonable amount of extra work from MM) would be things like

"Wait UNTIL population on planet X II IS GREATER THAN 100,000" or "IF enemy presence found in system Z THEN move to planet Y IV"

Perhaps in SEV?
