Incoming Fire?
 
Is there any way of turning off the "Instant Intelligence Report" of what has just fired which weapon at you?

I find this the least 'realistic' part vs the AI (and Human{?} players). The sound gives you an impression of what blew your scout car etc apart:

[Light/Medium/Heavy A/Tk = CRACK / BANG / BOOM] (I can't be bothered to look up the correct sound file names, but I'm sure you get the picture.)

I know the section in the manual that suggests "spoofing" other players by re-naming weapons & systems.

ie:

<font color="orange"> "MacDonalds
fires bombardment
with
"Big Mac &amp; Fries (Supersize)" </font>

This obviously won't work with other people's scenarios/campaigns unless you hack in and spoil the whole surprise!

As things stand I turn the sound "Off", go with the instant cheat /recon/intelligence and crank my (ancient) Stereo up to "11" whilst I'm playing. Hawkwind can be very soothing during stressful assaults!

You need a game redesigned from the ground up to have limited intelligence built in. Where it says "medium gun" or some such, and plays the shot animation from the edge of the screen, and does not give range etc.

What I thought would be the answer but still, you can always cower away from the screen when you are being fired at,
