Ship\'s Sensors

I just wondered something. Do all ships have EM Passive 1 and EM Active 1 sensors built-in automatically>

Thanks,
Codo

OK, looking at some of the files, I guess I should revise my question... Ar level 1 of all types of sensors built into every ship?

Re: Ship\'s Sensors

Yes, level one is the 'default' level for both active and passive EM sensors. That's why 'stealth' armor has level two cloaking in both.

Just so I can get rid of my confusion:

So the other sensors (i.e. temporal; first lvl) can spot a cloaked ship using stealth armor?

...thanks!

Re: Ship\'s Sensors

That is incorrect. By default, all ships have a sensor rating of ZERO. Stealth Armor has a cloaking level of one in both Active and Passive EM.

Re: Ship\'s Sensors

Yes, the 'special' sensors available to Temoral and Psychic races can see a ship with stealth armor even at level 1, but then so can any sensors in the default game. Even "Hyper Optics I" can see a ship with stealth armor.

Will: You do realize that "prevents level 1 scans" in the ability description means that the cloaking is level TWO? Read the components.txt file before you get too assertive about this. If you are getting cloaking at level 1 you are playing a different game than I am.

Baron is right. That is why you can't see mines, they cloak to level 5 in all areas. Some storms also cloak to level 5, although you must learn from experiance which ones do as it is not listed in the system description.
Anything that is cloaked to level 5 can not be spotted with the standard componets in the game.

Sorry if I didn't quite feel like running to the other computer to check that yesterday. I happened to have downloaded the v1.34 patch tonight, so I checked it. Says "Prevents level 1 ... scans". So technically, it is cloaking two. However, my mind is used to start counting at zero, and I don't quite get the idea of everything having a cloaking level of at least one. Thus, I interpret in in my mind as Cloaking Device I giving a level one cloak. I never let technicallities get in the way of me seeing how things really work. How about this, mod all the cloaking and sensor techs, so that the levels are added by 10. Still works the same way, but the numbers behind it are different http://www.shrapnelgames.com/ubb/images/icons/icon7.gif
