macro software
Does anyone have any experience using any sort of macro software for SE and other games? I'd be terribly grateful if anyone give me any information about using something to automate as I believe it would make life just a lot easier.
Given the nature of the SE series I'd imagine that I'd likely be able to find someone here with the advice I seek. Thanks in advance. |

What is Marco software?

Re: macro software
Marco software is a program you run to call polo for you in the pool.
CapnMorgan: SE4 does not have any macro functionality built in. There are however waypoints that you can use to gather ships. You can set a build queue to automatically order newly finished ships to move to a predefined waypoint as well. There are also Fill Queues that you can use to save the current build queue. You can then add the list to any (legal) build queue. This is useful for common batches of units, predefined lists of facilities to construct on a new colony, etc. You can also add ships or units to muliple build queues at once from the construction window with the Multi add button. Hold shift to select the target queues, then hit that button after the queues are selected. |
Re: macro software
I would think that it would be possible to use an external application and am surprised that no one has immediately suggested something.
I realize that there are varioues shortcuts built into SE, but I'd just like something more functional. |
Re: macro software
There are external applications that act as 'helpers' for SEIV, but this is limited strictly to the realms of switching between mods and multiplayer automation. As Fyron said, there is no macro capability in SEIV.
The only way I can think of to do basic automation outside of Ministers and such would be a program that captures the user input messages from the Windows and/or DirectX APIs, and records specific sequences to be played back later. But this would require quite a bit of effort to create, since you would need to maintain a state of where the game is (any windows open? which ones? which system is displayed? what sector is selected? what is in the sector list? etc.), and most likely would require a way to read the information in the *.gam files. And that last bit would be opening up a huge ability to cheat. What exactly are you wanting this external application to do? |
Re: macro software
Nothing fancy like actually work with the SE app. Just basic command executions.
I guess I'll just try some software trials and go from there. Thanks for the input guys. |
