WW needs a warning label :)

Hmmm...not real sure about this game http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif
I've got a buddy who flew out to visit his ma and me. Problem is, he found Weird Worlds on one of my computers, and the beggar keeps me up late until I finally have to pry him away from it...and he's twice my size http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

That can be an issue. When I was testing it, my stepsons and their friends came by and looked over my shoulder. I spent the next hour and a half explaining over and over that I couldn't lend out a beta.

(And if they think I'll be lending out my gold copy when I get one, they're nuts. I'd be waiting forever to get it back!)

I think I can handle addictive game play in bite sized chucnks. :-)

As part of the beta testing crew, did any of you all try your hand at modding it?

At the beginning I experimented with halving all the weapons damage. Makes for a quite different feeling in combat http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif
Had to modifiy the 'standard' files and didn't back them up before installing the next test version, so there's nothing left from that experiment.

'Real' modding ability (with mods selectable from the start screen) came late, and sadly I didn't have the time to do a "proper" mod I could hand out.

First thing I would try if I get to modding again is reducing weapon damage and expanding missile range and some firing arcs.

I didn't have time, I'm afraid. Too many projects on the forge at the moment. I know there's somebody who has been though.

I did a couple of little mods during the beta. I wanted a gameplay feel that was more like a sneaky scout than a science ship, so I modified the starting equipment for the Science Ship.

Then I did a somewhat more ambitious reworking, modifying the names of the terran ships and re-doing all of the initial text.

I left the ship, weapon and other properties alone for those experiments, since I was trying not to affect gamebalance too much.

It's surprisingly easy to create a mod.

I'm finding WW to go be a good time filler for study breaks since you can fit in a small game or two in a 30min break. Although sometimes those breaks reach out to a hour... or two...
