Autocasting Frustration

I am playing Vanheim and fought a battle with many Van commanders and some SC's. After the air commanders finished their script they started spamming false horrors.

Most of the enemy was dead or done but one tartanian cyclops remain with 19 regeneration and some good items. The horrors surrounded him but couldn't hit him. He routed but couldn't go anywhere. My SC's couldn't get near him as there were false horrors in the way.

After many rounds of battle my forces, largely unharmed, inexplicably routed and because the territory was surrounded by hostile lands my large army and ~15-20 well equipped leaders perished becuase of those stupid false horrors.

In some instances I don't want my air mages spamming false horrors. Is there a way to stop them from doing it?

Thanks,

Ice

Not really, no; in a great many circumstances, False Horror spamming is a good thing (for the spammer....) and it's a cheap spell to cast (once researched) so the Artificial Intelligence that runs the battles likes them. Lots of them.

Well, I suppose if you didn't research it, they wouldn't do so.....

Pretty annoying, but having a more diverse force (eg. some ranged attack or different casters) should sort that particular problem out.

Ugh, thats rough Ice Sickle. As for the choices that the combat ai makes - the discussion about that topic is a long and rich one. Look around on the forums. For the present tho there is sadly no way to control the combat AI once it goes beyond the script. In your particular situation, putting your casters further forward might prompt them to cast lightning bolts instead of horrors? A long shot but hey.

Also about your forces routing: thats not inexplicable. As was just confirmed in a different thread the attacker always routs after 50 turns, the defender after 75 and apparently everyone dies if the battle gets to turn 100. Its to stop battles from running infinitely. Anyway, moral of the story: Always have a line of retreat. Not always possible I know but a good motto to live by.
