Leader type: Whats an \"Omnicron\" ?

lo guys,

just recently ive been trying to create good race descriptions for my upcoming pbw game. While looking through the leadertype files, i stumbled upon "Omnicron". Sounds interesting, but since i didnt knew what it is, i searched it at the wikipedia. When i found nothing, i thought i might ask this here. I think to remember that "Omnicron" referrs to some kind of "omnipotent" (?) person, meaning something like all-knowing, all-seeing, on one level with god...?

is this right ?

Hmmm... I never really looked at it that closely. I was always thinking, "Isn't that odd, that a greek letter is a type of leader?"

Except it's misspelled :O

Just a guess:

Omni = all
cron = time

Omnicron = "all-time" or maybe "eternal"

Omni is latin, whereas the word you have in mind for time is greek, so there might be a problem here (though some words have been created with both roots in Indo-European languages). More importantly, the greek word for time is chronos, so it should be omnichronon, or something to that effect.

Then again, there is a Unix command called cron that starts a command or a script at a given time, so. Who knows?

Omnicron is the name of the leader of the evil Transformers. Maybe someone has just taken it for a 'title' instead of a name? It sounds like a mistake that someone just hunting around for titles might make.

It might also be a mispelling of Omicron, which is the 15th letter of the Greek alphabet. But I don't know why anyone would think that was a title for a leader, so the first idea seems the most likely.

I suppose any of these explanations is possible, but I wouldn't spend too much time thinking about this one...

I dont know about any of the new Transformers but in the old show the villian was Megatron. I always thought that an Omnicron was an omni-present, all seeing entity. Can't find an actual definition of one so I guess it is made up.

I think Omnicron was the giant planet robot in the Transformers movie. voiced by Orson Wells I believe.

Edit: however IMDB says that was Unicron.
