Move = suppression; after rally full movement ...

Hello.
My game is patched to 2.51exe - the MBT gun etc...
My infantry units are suppressed after taking fire/losses.
When they are then rallied they can move the full movement rate - despite having already consumed most of their movement points. For instance I've rallied with 2 or fewer movement points left only to then have another 6 or more depending on the unit to move again without a turn ending.
This and the dissappearing reappearing infantry has me wondering what I did wrong with my installs.

Any ideas?

Yes - some weirdness in the core code which cannot really be cured. (I have tried to find it, but it is one of these random things that you cannot get repeatable enough or reliably appearing enough to debug properly. It seems to me to happen more often to a section that has e.g. travelled > 6 MP on a vehicle then debussed, than one which itself walked 4 or so hexes, but again - not repeatable enough to properly set up and breakpoint in the debugger. Any save game (not a PBEM one) where it can be reliably repeated would be welcome! )

So, sometimes a successful rally will return a section to full MP.

Consider it to be led by a really good/lucky NCO! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

Mobhack:
I found that you can recreate it very easily under in the Dos game by setting the Rally/Rout to +250%. Infact you can get some units doing it several times a turn.

A small test scenario (with maybe a platoon a side to make debugging easier) in the Windows version, if you can get this to occur "on command", would be most welcome!.

I've been involved with the SP game from the very start way back over 10 years ago.

This has been a recurring problem in all versions that I have seen. Frankly, there have been times when I have blessed it as it saved my butt, but then I guess it really isn't "fair" in real combat.

Though it might not be fair, I would miss it if it were taken away. Sorry guys, but I need all the help I can get on the battlefield http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/rant.gif

Recreating it on vehicles seesm to be impossible after some tests. It may only effect infantry. Has anyone seen if effect a vehicle?

Yes, I have seen it happen with armed jeep-type vehicles and I think apc's too, but very rarely. I'm not even sure if it was in the windows game or dates back to the DOS games.

Hello.

I recall I saw it alot for Conscipt troops and former Warpac troops being used in combination with elite formations.
Perhaps the influence of the elite infantry is allowing the game to behave - depending on like/dislike - like do or die crisis moment, with nearly all rally capable conscript units being returned to 200% health.

I will try to snag some occurances and also try your suggestion with helos & tanks as well as the ferrying method with trucks. [very few trucks rushing back and forth to move a large mass of infantry].
