Range check error?
I have been playing around with some custom components and I keep getting a "Range Check Error" periodically during the game. Has anyone else seen this? Any idea what causes it?
Just in case anyone is interested I have attached a copy of the component file. A few ideas I have been playing with are to beef up armor and shields and then replace meson bLasters and anti-proton beams with Lasers and Particle accelerators which are shield and armor piercing respectively. Makes for some interesting tradeoffs early in the game to have shield and armor piercing weapons so early. I have also made all engines the same speed and added shield and armor features to each new engine type instead of added speed. Change that has worked best though is to make plasma missiles able to target fighters and sats. It makes the AI races deadly if you give them a mix of capital and plasma missiles on their attack ships. |
Re: Range check error?
What makes you so sure the error has something to do with the components?
BTY rckeaton have you voted for the civil war idea yet. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. http://www.shrapnelgames.com/ubb/images/icons/icon7.gif Thanks for your time. [This message has been edited by chewy027 (edited 12 April 2001).] |
Re: Range check error?
RCEs get reported a lot around here. I haven't looked at your file, but one of the most common problems is extra spaces and/or blank lines in the file; the parser is reputedly quite finicky.
