sequence of events: retreating

My SC teleports into a province with one adjacent province I own, but retreats. He has one friendly adjacent province to go to. On the same turn, that province is invaded with a strong enemy force. Will he retreat into my own province and be there to help with the enemy invaders? I figure, since teleport happens before normal movement, he might. Or, do all battles take place, and then retreats occur, and he has nowhere to go so he dies? Is there a post listing sequence of events?

Thank!
BB

If I read this right, you figure correctly. Battles occurring as a result of magic movement (like Teleport) happen before conventional attacks.

(From the manual, page 3, Item 1.11, Turn Sequence)

I think the retreats happen after the battles are over, but I'm not sure. I don't remember ever facing a situation like this.

I read the turn sequence order again. There's no separate line for retreats (either kind). BB's figuring the order this way:
1 SC teleports in (Magic phase)
2 Battle occurs with SC retreating
3 Enemy moves into the province SC was retreating to
4 That battle occurs (Regular Move battle phase)

The other possibility is that the retreat counts under Friendly Movement, which would stick into this order as item 2A.
On the other hand, wouldn't the retreating SC -in a sense- not have much time to prepare for the second battle (certainly any hits/damage he took in the first battle won't heal in time for the second!) just running back from the other battle?
On the other other hand, if the attack on the retreat-to province was also caused by a magic-phase move, all bets are off.

Less than predictable. I've fought the same enemy commander multiple times in a single turn due to sequencing of retreats, but I've also seen commanders just die in retreat because the previously friendly province changed hands earlier in the same turn.

Ditto, but only in the case of retreats occurring in the same phase. I'm not sure whether or not magic phase retreats always precede movement phase retreats, but I suspect this is the case.
