3 questions about ramming
Hi! I have a few questions about ramming and ship definitions. I'm creating a mod and I'm not sure I understand everything about the "ramming" concept. Although I use it often when I play (the Terran Pirate Corvette and that Garthan guy are good at this).
1. Where do we define ramming capabilities? In is in the Hull definition, or in the Race/Ship definition? Is it a flag? 2. Ramming behavior: when does a computer-controlled ship "decide" to ram? Can we indicates that a ship has a strong preference for ramming (for instance, a ship with weak weapons or with cloaking capabilities but with a strong hull). 3. Can fighters (smallest ships) ram? What are the currently implemented limitations? Thanks for the answers. |
Re: 3 questions about ramming
All capital ships can ram, fighters cannot. Some ships have a "ramshield" flag which means they take less damage from ramming. This also makes them automatically select ram instead of "attack" when you click on an enemy ship.
The enemy AI only intentionally rams if it has no weapons. In 1.1 this is further reduced in that only ships with the ramshield flag will do this (others will attempt to flee). |
Re: 3 questions about ramming
Thanks a lot for the information. I've solved my mod problem.
