Interesting observation
Not a huge deal, but there was a post awhile back about how "fast artillery" would sometimes mysteriously turn "on" during PBEMs.
In playing a single player game, I had fast artillery "on" to start. After a few turns, I turned it "off" (and changed animations from none to the second lowest option). Saved the game. Opened it later, played it a bit, saved it. Etc. Artillery showed up on screen normally (i.e. not "fast"). Tonight, on turn 8, opened it, played it a bit, artillery was working as set in the preferences (i.e. not "fast"). Then I hit the windows key to return to desktop during game. When I went back into game, it played as if fast artillery was "on" (i.e. it showed all splash circles at once and all shots fired at once). I checked preferences, and they report fast artillery still as being off. A little odd and not worth spending debug time on, but thought I'd throw it out there in case this observation assists in any future efforts on the mysterious fast-artillery-turns-itself-on issue. |
Re: Interesting observation
If you get time in the next couple of days see if you can recreate this again using the windows key and let us know if you can make this 100% repeatable. What OS of windows are you using?

Re: Interesting observation
Did a battle - China v. China 10/06. Picked a bunch of arty, a few FOs and a tank platoon or something. Preferences were set to Fast Artillery OFF when creating the battle.
Turn 1 I just set all the arty to fire in various spots. Ended my turn. Computer did its thing and then my arty started falling. Fast Artillery was OFF (i.e. it was tube by tube). I hit the Windows key, came to desktop, went back into game, and Fast Artillery was now ON (although in preferences setting it was still off). Let me know what I can send you or do further. I tried it again and its same thing. I'm running Win XP Home (SP2), fully updated, all my drivers are current (using Radeon X800 Pro), I keep my machine very clean and streamlined. |
Re: Interesting observation
OK that's good enough. It establishes a pattern. We can test it further ourselves after Christmas. Thanks
