Map Label Issue on Generated Maps?

Hello All,

First I want to say "thank you" to the team for developing a stable Win32 version of the classic game!

I do want to bring attention to the fact that I cannot seem to see text labels that I place on a generated map when I place them on the lower third of the map at maximum zoom-out. I can see all text strings zoomed in, however.

This doesn't seem to happen when the map is created w/o the generator.

It isn't a huge problem but being able to see labels at maximum zoom makes scenario design easier.

Any help would be appreciated. I have an example map I can send if you require it.

Thanks,

Christian

I've experienced the same thing. Some text labels appear when zoomed out, others disappear.

Attach the map to your reply and I'll have a look at it

I think that sometimes this may happen if two text are overlapping in (extreme) zoom out, or if the text is near the border of the map.

I've had this happen as well. I'll have to get the map file from my desktop and attach it from there.

Where does this map show the problem you describe? I see three text lines

<<<JIJIGA
V2
V1

All three show up in my game when I run through all the zoom levels

What game screen resolution are you using and is it windowed or full screen

Re: Map Label Issue on Generated Maps?

DRG,

Try adding a label at the bottom of the map at maximum zoom - and I'm running the game in windowed mode with a resolution setting of 1280 x 1024.

Incidentally, in the course of checking my information, I discovered that the issue is NOT present in resolutions 1024 x 768 and below. Resolution settings appear to be a major factor in this.

Thanks,

Christian

Confirmed - both windowed and full screen modes over 1024.

I'll look into it further.

Cheers

Re: Map Label Issue on Generated Maps?

This is not just a resolution problem. It's tied to map size as well. I run 1152x864 and I can put text right to the bottom of the map on 200x160 maps. However when I go below a map height of 110 I cannot. When I get down to a 20 hex high map I do not get text in the two farthest zoom levels.

If anyone would like to check these findings out with other resolutions it would be appreciated
