OOB Manager Problem

I've installed patch 2.0 and 2.5 - the game plays fine, but when I try to use the OOB manager, it freezes up.

I'm also having a tough time figuring out how to save changes - I've created a couple of new formations, but when I go back, they're not there ... what am I doing wrong here?

1) "Freezes up". You are attemting to open a custom OOB set I presume ?.
If you read the Game Manual, "Running WinSPMBT" section, each of the game options programme tabs has an explanation. "Manage OOB Sets" walks you through the process, with illustrations. Now - I'll bet that you have skipped the sentence "To load a custom set all you need to do is click on ONE of the OOBs then press the OPEN button. When you do this screen appears" ?. Windows will be waiting at this point for you to select a file (any file) from those displayed, so it can tell which directory you wish to use.
(There is no standard Windows common dialogue for "Select Directory" so we have to use the "File Open" one instead). Select a file - from which Windows can now figure out the path - and you will now be able to continue.

2)The second question is about Mobhack I presume?. Are you committing your changes to the edited record before moving onto the next one?.
See the Mobhack help file section on the Tool Bar Buttons & Menu Items, Save button. (You need to commit your edits to the record). Hovering your mouse over the illustration in the help file (if you do not have pop ups blocked - if you do, allow them for that file) will pop up a description of the button.

Re: OOB Manager Problem

I'm still confused - leaving the OOB Manger problem aside (it seems like it only happens on one of the two computers I have it installed on) - can someone walk me through the process -

I'm making a new formation - I pick a blank number (in this case 500 in the USA) - I make my changes and save the current file ... then what?

1) You pick your blank record on the formations tab - 500 in this case, and make your edits. You don't move off the record until:

2) After you have made changes to the record, and are happy with them so far, you commit your changes to that record as described in the previous post, by using the red tick mark button on the tool bar, or by pressing F12.

from the Mobhack help file, "Tool Bar Buttons & Menu Items" section:
Quote:

Save Button - saves the current item's data to memory. Note that this is the ONLY way to save your changes to memory - moving off the current item has the same effect as a cancel (all changes not saved are lost). [F12] note that this will only save your changes to the OB data held in memory - you require to save to file to put your changes into effect!. (see Save button above, or the save file menu item below)

3)You now save the OOB file on the save/load page of Mobhack, if you are happy with it, by pressing the SAVE button. Then the edits currently held in the RAM copy of the OOB get moved to the disk image.

Re: OOB Manager Problem

Thanks - I finally managed to decipher the instructions last night - and you were right, I missed the explanation of the red check mark.

Now - why does the OOB manager freeze up when I try to use it? It must be something it's conflicting with on my computer, have you heard anyone else with the same problem? It also freezes up when I try to change the window size.

Re: OOB Manager Problem

You cannot resize the OOB manager dialogue, it's a fixed size window.

You can however resize the windows stock File Open dialogue which the code calls up when asking you to select a file, so it can then navigate to the correct path.

If you are having problems with that on one machine - then your Windows installation on that machine is suspect, as it is a standard "widget" provided by Windows, that the programme calls as a service.

So - if your problem is with the window titled "Select OOB Set", that is Microsoft code I have provided with a title bar etc. In which case - there is something likely wrong with the windows common controls on that machine. (or the version of COMCTL32.DLL is perhaps out of date). Is it an old machine?.
