Need information on the Battle of Wadi Al Batin
 

I'm making a scenario from the Iraqi point of view during the 1991 battle of Wadi Al Batin. This was a battle where two Abrams tanks were knocked out by a T-72 platoon in a reverse-slope position (the only time American tanks were disabled in the whole war). I looked on google, but could only find details on a 1st Cav recon raid before the ground campaign started. It's as if the battle never existed. Does anyone have any idea on how I could find information on this battle?

Where did you get the original idea that T-72s knocked out M1s? Do you know what unit the Abrams belonged to?

It was from a game manual (M1 Tank Platoon II by Microprose). It says in there the company, batallion, and division the Abrams belonged to, but I'm giving up on Wadi Al Batin. I think I've thought of a more interesting scenario- one based on the Thunder Runs into Baghdad, 2003. Maybe I'll continue with Wadi Al-Batin later. In fact, I could make the whole scenario by copying the battle in the game, but I just wanted to validate my sources.

The unit was 1st Battalion, 5th Cavalry, 1st Cavalry Division. If I remember correctly, they lost a couple of Bradleys from either tank or antitank gun fire. At least one of their M-1's was frontally hit by tank fire and the tank plt commander suffered hearing loss and other injuries which forced him to be medically retired from the Army. My knowledge of this comes from my brother as he joined the unit as a new Lieutenant shortly after their return from DESERT STORM.

No, that's an entirely different battle. The first battle of Wadi Al Batin took place on G-4 and is already a scenario in the game. I'm talking about the one on G+1. Very interesting that you know someone who was in it, though. It's always given the Americans a tough fight for some reason every time they fight there.
