Problem with ship systems\' life ...
Hello,
I am preparing a mod that will make the battles more epic, add movie-like music, make the ships much more durable so the fights won't be over so quickly - and that's the problem. Changing the ship's hp is easy, but when I fight someone, the ships get their systems, such as weapons or engines, destroyed really quickly. How can I change a ship component's hp ? Ya, it looks like hits damage either the hull "HP", or the components. I'm not sure components have a "HP". Anyone know? If not, then you might have to reduce the damage of all weapons by a constant factor, to get the same effect.

Well, if you can't find a way to modify the durability of components, you could always try the "nosysdamage" FLAG. Any ship with it will not receive damage to any of its components. You would have to add that to every ship in the game, though.

There's a way to reduce system damage on a per-hull basis. Look in the kla_frg.ini file for an example. This line:
SDMG 0.5f makes it take half damage from all system hits. The Primordius station has it set to 0.2 so it only takes one fifth of normal system damage. |

The easiest way is to edit the race files, and give all the ships better shields. the shields have to be knocked out before any damage goes to the components / systems / weapons.
Alternately, edit the shield item files and make the existing shields all stronger. |
