Map Editor Questions/Enhancements
I thought I would start us a new topic for map editor questions and enhancement requests
Here is my first one 1. Can we turn on the gridlines for the map. 2. We can create systems that are on top of one another. Is this intentional or an oversight. The program does not allow you to chose the system to select when there is more than one on either the map editor or the games galaxy map(opps wrong on this you can right click to select a system in the game). This can be useful to make hidden systems though. 3. This is to be expected. If you add the 256th system you get a range check error. Perhaps a system counter to prevent us from adding that system. Re: Map Editor Questions/Enhancements
Aack! Wait a few days for enhancement requests! LOL!
How about a few days worth of singing MM's praises? THEN we'll start crying out again for more. |
Re: Map Editor Questions/Enhancements
WIERD! Ok maybe I don't know how to use this editor properly yet.....(it's only been 5 min after all http://www.shrapnelgames.com/ubb/ima...ons/icon12.gif) but can you add/remove planets? Add a ringworld or two? So far I just made a map and deleted a bunch of systems to make a small one for quick games. Then things got screwy. I loaded the new map and found instead of completely deleting the systems it had 'amalgamated' them. Now the remaining systems on my map share some of the deleted systems, I have sectors with suns on top of each other, asteroids hiding planets (like moons) and sectors with planets of different names (mostly added ones from the sectors I deleted). Is this whats supposed to happen?
------------------ "The Empress took your name away," said Chance. Owen smiled coldly. "It wasn't hers to take. I'm a Deathstalker until I die. And we never forget a slight or an enemy." -Owen Deathstalker. |
Re: Map Editor Questions/Enhancements
I noticed that too. It appeared when a system was deleted none of its objects were deleted but randomized to other systems.
I also get a access violation when I try to add a space object to a space on the galaxy map that does not have a system in it (to be expected but better error handling would be nice) TO add a space object (planet etc) you must select a square on the system map. Then you can add a space object such as a planet. I created a small testing system before this patch by setting my max systems to 10 in my settings.txt file and generated a small map. I made a 2 system map that I could use for testing. |
Re: Map Editor Questions/Enhancements
If this is the place for editor questions, then I have one.
When placing a ring/sphere world, do you have to place it in the same sector as a star or just anywhere you want to. The editors great for creating that "someone lived here before" feel to the galaxy. ------------------ Rules? What Rules? |
