Patches installation woes

I've got multiples Versions of space empires with different patches on a win2k machine.

I always get the error
"This Version of Space Empires you have installed is not correct. This install upgrades from blah blah blah blah"

Any help on forcing the upgrade?
I really don't want to have to re-install from the CD every time a patch comes along.

Thanks

Re: Patches installation woes

Launch a new istallation from original disk over the same directory, after the patch will install correctly. Beware: make a copy of all default directory of the game you have modified by installing modding features, let say customized races shipset, ModPack, etc.
Beside if you have current games involving ModPack or customized races shipset some problem could arise after installing patch 1.35, it could be better waiting for new modders releases compatibles with the new patch before installing it.

I wonder if there's a problem with the Registry key in Win2k. That might explain why the patches don't find the correct Version numbers...

I was getting that same message and I use Win98. I had to reinstall the game and apply the patch on 1.02 Version.
Weird, eh. http://www.shrapnelgames.com/ubb/ima...ons/tongue.gif

Re: Patches installation woes

The only problem I've had with installation is for the game and every patch, I've had some error at the beginning about the program not working because of some Windows NT file I supposedly have, I just ignore it and everything works fine though.
