OT: Things we do to our pets
I have three cats to whom I care about deeply. However at times I find that I can garner a lot of enterianment from harrassing my beloved little fur balls of toy.
I cannot express to you how much fun a lazer pen in a semi darkened room filled with three cats can be. Or how the sound of the can opener often results in mad cat dash down the hall. The occations rapid opening of the door to the bedroom sometimes leads to a "BONK" as one or more of the cats, having been startled away, make for the cat door only to arrive at the same time. It gets really funny when the cat door is locked. Have you ever used one of those aresol air freshener cans in close proximity to your cat? If not you should try it sometime. Most entertaining. One of the single most annoying things I can do to my beloved rat eating varmit hunters is to place a can of open cat food on the other side of a closed door. The paw action from under the door is quite hilarious. Last but not least, I allow my twin 9 year old nephews to "love" on the kitties. Oh my God, the laughter never stops. From the cats point of view, the Cat door is one of the coolest things ever invented. I can wiggle the cat door and they will all star at it like some kind of golden surprise is about to come through it. (This because at one point a rackoon discovered the door much to his unpleasent suprise he found four cats, at the time I had four, waiting for him on the other side. Odd, I haven't seen that bandit since. All in all cats are great fun. I still miss my Momma cat, she passed in Octover 2004, and I don't think I will ever forget her. As to the remaining three, well, they are loads of fun. Now does any one know what I am suppose to do with this dead rat? |
Re: OT: Things we do to our pets
Have any neighbours you don't like? The rat could go for a "visit" down into some hot, confined space on or near their house, providing some nice odors. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...ies/tongue.gif
I didn't realize that anyone had cats for pets. I always thought the cats were the ones that had pets -- us! What a cat thinks: "About time you got off your lazy *** and got me my food! Now pet me! That's it...perfect. Good human, good. I may just have to keep you." |
Re: OT: Things we do to our pets
LOL...I sometimes feel in the mood to "torture" one of our two. I tell my wife that it's required of them...how they "earn their living".
I like playing "Olympic Soccer". It's where I take off one of my socks, slip it over their head and count the seconds it takes them to get it off. One cat has gotten quite good by calmly placing her foot on the loose end and holding it down while she pulls her head back. Record time? 3 seconds. However, the other one continues backing up to get out of it (LOL). Now, THAT'S funny! (then I feel bad about it afterwards.) And, there's strips of tape on the part of their back near their tail. Bows at Christmas (LOL). Sometimes, I fart on them. I think they are humiliated by that. They like jumping in boxes that are half open, so I stack one on another one but placing it nearly half off the edge so when they jump it, it falls off. OK, so I'm a sick bastard! It's how they earn their living! |

I know someone who had an "Alpha Male" issue with his cat. It used to assert its authority by peeing on his laundry. He asserted his authority back by throwing it as far as he could. "No, I didn't put spin on it; that would be cruel." ...he said. Hard to say who was wronging whom, but it was certainly a dysfunctional relationship. |

Re: OT: Things we do to our pets
I have a cat named Min Lee and a Dog named Rascal Bibbles (yes my dogs had middle names, my old dearly departed dog Doger's middle name was Rocky)
Anyway my cat is a midgit flame point Siamese (by midgit I mean he's supposed to weigh about 10 pounds but max's out at about 5, he's also far more compact then he's supposed to be). I don't torture him much anymore now that he's older but when he was younger I'd LOVE playing around with him. One of the things I'd do is when he was standing on a really narrow object I'd start rubbing his side really fast and he did what cats do when they are being petted he'd start arching his back, well this of course lead to him falling off and promptly either biting me or looking up with that look that cats get that says "SOme day you'll be sleeping and WHAM!" Another funny thing to watch was when my Dodger and Rascal would gang up on him and he'd play all Martyr and run to the nearest human like the dogs were the ones doing it all. It was especially funny when he would latch himself to Rascal's jowls (She's part hound part pitbull so she's got a lot of flappy skin on her mouth) with his teeth and claws and she'd just walk around with him stuck to her....apparently in no pain at all. One time he actually jumped on her back and went for a brief ride before she rolled over and he found himself on the wrong end of 20 pounds of dog lol. It was even funnier the day she finally realized she was bigger then him and he came charging down the stairs racing at her about to leap when suddenly she just stands up and he hits the breaks and skids......a moment of "OH CRAP" look on his face and she cocks her head before lifting her right forpaw and promptly slapping him across the floor.....naturally a vigorous chase began and much to Min's dismay Dodger came down the stairs just as he and Rascal were running up the stairs....SLAM DOGPILE lol Well now that Min's older and Dodger has passed away Min Rascal seems to have forgotten that she's bigger then the cat and it's not unusual to find her cowering somewhere whimpering (usually the kitchen)until a human comes and saves her from the evil kitty LOL (he of course just sits there looking at her like "What I didn't do anything") mind you she's now 50 pounds and he's still 5 lol |

Nice post, Starhawk. Anyone who can remember stories and detail like that obviously loves their pets.
