Did Elvis Commit Suicide?
For a very long time now I have been under the unshakeable belief that Elvis, one of histories greats musical talents, took his own life.
They say it was an accidental drug overdose, but I don't buy it. One as experienced as Elvis was with drug use, simply does not out of the blue OD on prescription drugs. Couple this with the way he lived his last few years of life, and one only needs to look to his last concert to truly know that he was saying good bye. Now I have been criticized by many, but as we learn more about mental health, and to the degree of how prolonged drug dependency whittles away at ones life, one does not have to take a leap of faith to figure out that Elvis was a very depressed man who saw no way out except death. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/frown.gif My brother, quite literally one of Elvis's most adoring fans, eventually agreed with me after watching several shows and documentaries on Elvis. For me it was an epiphany that just came to me while we watched one such documentary in 2000. I just knew that it was no accident given his behavior just prior to his death. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/frown.gif I have no doubt that he chose to end his life rather than continue to live in what he must have believed to be an unbearable life. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/frown.gif |
Re: Did Elvis Commit Suicide?
Strange, I'd always though that he died of a heart attack.
**quick check** And so did the coroner as it happens. Now the drug use might have brought on the heart attack, but then he had a family history of heart problems, both his parents died of them. A way out for Elvis would have been a diet and a new doctor, all his drugs were prescribed and probably unecessary. I don't mean to be harsh, but I do have trouble sympathising with multi millionares suffering self inflicted troubles. Just to clarify though. If it was indeed suicide then its a tragedy such a successfull and well loved man didn't have someone to help him through his troubles. |
Re: Did Elvis Commit Suicide?
It is widely believed, albeit no proof has ever been presented to support these theories, that his actual cause of death was changed in order to protect his name and reputation. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/frown.gif
He knew he was going to die, he said his good byes, drove the people who loved him away, and did what he had to do. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/frown.gif One can only imagine the hell that must have been Elvis's reality. Loosing Elvis, was a national, no a world tragedy. |
Re: Did Elvis Commit Suicide?
Have you seen Bubba Ho-Tep? Bruce Campbell + Elvis + undead stuff = awesome.

Re: Did Elvis Commit Suicide?
Elvis is alive. He is retired and living in Hawaii, after a second career as a convenience store inspector.

Re: Did Elvis Commit Suicide?
Not only did Elvis not commit suicide, he went into the witness protection program. Since someone of his public stature couldn't just disappear, they needed a plausibile cover (his death) story. He still shows up from time to time (Elvis sightings) hiding in plain sight since everyone knows that no one really sees him - since he's dead...
And by the way, he is the real father of Anna Nicole Smith's baby... |
