Scenario and Map-Making Resources?

Are there any helper programs or hints people have speeding up the creation of maps and scenarios? Building an entire galaxy in the map-maker is EXTREMELY tedious, regardless of whether you start from scratch, or randomly generate a map and then edit it. Is there anything out there that can accelerate this process? I'd especially like a system randomizer. I.e., placing actual systems in the map editor and naming them, then randomly generating the contents of the SYSTEM.

As for making scenarios, there seems to be no way to place/create ships, establish communications and demeanors, etc. You have to manually run turns for all the races you want to configure until you get things the way you want them, which takes hours. Suggestions?

EDIT: I recently downloaded the SW Rebellion Mod, and want to play a game in the actual SW galaxy, with conditions and whatnot set so that the Empire plays like the Empire, and the Rebels play like the Rebels. This has required extensive work on the (almost non-existant) AI files and other tweaks and cleaning up to suit my impression of Star Wars.

Re: Scenario and Map-Making Resources?

When setting up a scenario, you should use a temporary mod, which makes the base maintenance zero, makes SYs build at 100000 rate, and resource facilities produce 100k each.

This will let you get things built fast, and you can make all the engines provide 30 movement points so that they get to where they're going fast.

Von Neumann BaseSYs in orbit of the homeworld can make it easy to build tons of ships while taking only a handful of turns to do.

Once its all set up, change the mod back to normal and process a turn to get things nomalized.
