Squad Leader

With the recent negative consumer respose to Squad Leader, it would appear the punter is still crying out for a good tactical (man to man) WWII game.

My money is on the 82nd to satisfy this demand (hint hint). I just hope it is still being developed.

Yes it is, in fact we have graphical artists currently hard at work on the game.

The actual programming of the changes will not take too long and we have been working to get that finalized, look for an announcement in the near future. I can tell you this it will probably be one of our developers who ends up doing the majority of the code work for 82nd, but I won't say who quite yet http://www.shrapnelgames.com/ubb/ima...ons/icon12.gif.

Great, thanks Richard.

Sounds like it is in safe hands.

Any ballpark figures on a release date, I am anxiously looking forward to this one.

As an aside, I am currently playing Squad Leader, and while it is by no means perfect, it's entertaining. Us tactical turn-based fans can't afford to turn up our noses at any new addition to the genre, they are just to few and far between. Even if Squad Leader was the be all end all of WW2 turn based tactical gameplay, it wouldn't stop me from purchasing All American.

Gizah, I think you hit the nail on the head with the following statement:

"Us tactical turn-based fans can't afford to turn up our noses at any new addition to the genre, they are just to few and far between."

It is generally a long time between drinks for good tactical war games (actually any tactical wargames).

Notwithstanding the enjoyment I get from WWII type games, I still long for a reasonably tactical Horse and Musket game - though that is drifting of line a wee bit. Still we are allowed to dream.

Re: Squad Leader

This is a great news Richard. I'm still playing 101st atually I'm currently playing the campaign called "blow the bridge". I still didn't play about 3 campaigns...

I would like to see higher resolution included and possiblity (it probably won't happen) to play German side as well.

Peter

PS: If possible I would be interested to alpha/beta test 82nd
