Dumb Map Question

How you do save a map from one of the scenarios that come with the game? Scenario 12 I think OP Protea.... I know I have done it before but I can't figure out how I did it.

Thanks

Re: Dumb Map Question

Hi,

1. You should first select the scenario editor menu.
2. Then you should load the appropriate scenario.
3. After that press the edit map button.
4. From the edit map button press the save map button and save the map in one unused slot.

Some remarks:

i) Before saving the map be sure to have set the correct map mode conditions (winter-summer-desert)
ii) It is better to have the ID Tags set to OFF
iii) Before saving the map, you might also DELETE all unit formations from both Unit list.

This way, you may avoid/fix any preexisted problems on that map (ghost flags).

cheers,
Pyros

Re: Dumb Map Question

When saving a map from a sceanrio you should always have ID Tags and Objective Flags turned OFF in preferences. It's not really necessary to delete the units. Unit info is not saved as part of the map save routine. However, defensive features such as foxholes etc will be saved if they are present so in that case deleting all the units then re-entreching what left ( the HQ ) will remove them before saving the map.

The extended map editor in the CD edition will remove foxholes etc from maps that have them by pressing the -Damage button.

Re: Dumb Map Question

Hi, I hope this is the right place for this question. I have been working on a new map that I was hoping to share but when I tried to go into the file folder to move it to another computer there was no file in the slot where I have been saving my map. I can load it from the editor and the game no problem but when I go into the file folder there is nothing there. Does anyone know what I am doing wrong? Thanks.

You're in the right forum, but it would probably have been better to make a new thread.

What operating system are you using, and what's the exact path where you installed the game?

Re: Dumb Map Question

I'm using Windows 7 and the path it's installed in is C:/Program Files/Shrapnel Games/The Camo Workshop/WinSPMBT. Thanks for any help and sorry for not starting a new thread. The game is updated to the latest version 7.

Re: Dumb Map Question

I'm pretty sure UAC redirected the files into the virtual store.
Should be there:
%localappdata%\VirtualStore\Program Files\Shrapnel Games\The Camo Workshop\WinSPMBT

This sort of thing is why it's recommended to install outside the managed folders - the game is not UAC aware.

This is EXACTLY why we recommend Vista / Win 7 users install outside program files and why this latest patch and all future patches are installed outside program files.

Re: Dumb Map Question

Awesome! Thank you. I hadn't noticed the instructions about installing outside program files until I was installing the game on my new computer a few days ago. Moving the map to this computer prompted me to look for the file. I appreciate the help.
