Newbie Questions RE saving and mods- Please Help!

I really want to get into Dominions 2, it seems like there is so much depth just there beneath the surface if I can just get to it, but a couple of technical things are holding me back.

1- Can you save a turn without quitting? (And how would you get back to re-load from that turn)?
The only options I can seem to find are quit without saving or save and quit.

2- Which folders do maps and mods go? There is a 'map' folder, and a 'mods' folder in my D2 directory - BUT when I used Bruce Geryk's (sp?) excellent walk-thru, I created a separate Walk-Thru folder and put everything in there - is it that way for all maps and mods? (ie they all get their own folder)?

Thanks in advance for helping a newbie!
It is much appreciated!

New folders are created for new games. These appear in the main directory.
All the maps go into the maps folder, and there are no subfolders.

When you press 'e' on your turn, you get to a screen where you can choose to generate a new turn ('host'), or go to main menu. If you go to main menu, your orders are saved.

Also, there probably are more than few problems in the way. The user interface has its quirks, and some aspects of the game's design are rather unorthodox.

Keep in mind that even though you are playing it "hot seat" the game is designed as PbEM (Play by EMail). That means that when you save, it creates a save file which can be sent to a host for procesing. And the host pulls that in to process it into a turn file which can be sent back to you.

OK you are being both of those. But it means that you can save as many times as you want, go back into it, pick up where you left off or restart doing that turn from the beginning. All you want to as long as you dont hit the "host" button. Once you hit host then it processes you into a new turn with no simple way of going back.
