Is there any detailed guide/manual
 

I'm quite a newbie in SEIV (but a old Starfire player) ... I want to know if there is somewhere a detailed manual apart the one I have in the original game and the SE4 Dubious Strategy Guide.txt I downloaded from the net.

I think it's about time we put together a faq and / or unofficial manual.
Things to be included:
-basics (using the varoius screens and icons)
-building stuff, moving stuff, combat, politics, intel
-specific details (what the different facilities and components do)
-that excellent decription posted a while back on the way armour works
-How to mod files
-How the game interprets mod files.
-loads of other stuff I can't be arsed to list.

I'll volunteer for contributions. Anyone volunteer to take charge of it / maintain it?

I've been working on enhancing the SE4 CD Manual to be posted for both download and Online viewing. But, frankly, IT IS A PAIN IN THE ***!

Oh, okay, well done. Didn't want to tread on your toes HA. Maybe we should consider a forum FAQ as well to save repeatedly answering the same questions from newbies. (no disrespect Liga) - It can be quite hard to find what you're looking for in all those old threads.

If you ever have specific questions, just start a new thread, and lots of people will answer or give you a link to a thread that answers your question.

There's also a "search" link at the top of the page. Click it and search for your problem. You will likely find what you're looking for.

After the new Version of Pirates&Nomads comes out today, I'll get the armor stuff summarized for y'all.

Once you have a few games under your belt the strategy guides don't really help a lot due to the wide variety of possible ways to victory. They are nice for picking up tips or different ways of doing things.
I agree, though, that there should be a compilation of how the game mechanics work and a mod guide. Maybe one day......
