Thanks from an old Grognard
I just wanted to post and say thanks to the whole team for WinSPWW2. I have downloaded and played it and I think it's great. I sure there are things that people feel might be tweaked but when you try to sim a real world situation there's bound to be some inconsistencies, or at least a perception of things being inconsistent with reality. Games will always be games, not perfect, but the effort to bring Steel Panthers into compatibility with modern computers is greatly appreciated by me.
I also wanted to say hi to some of the older members of the wargaming community. I started playing Tactics II back when Kennedy was president and stayed with board games even through the first waves of personal computers (I had various Radio Shack and Tandy rigs). It wasn't till 1995 that I bought a gaming machine just so I could play Steel Panthers and I've been a computer gamer since then. I think it's great that with all the focus on cutting edge and popular games like DOOM3, Halflife 2 and Oblivion (all of which I own, of course http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif) there is still an interesting in turn based, top down wargaming. |

Glad you like it
(I only started wargaming in 69, with AH's Jutland, and a copy of Terry Wise's book "Introduction To Battlegaming" and some boxes of Airfix 1/72 troops. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif Cheers Andy |
Re: Thanks from an old Grognard
I played Jutland several times with a high-school friend. We had to use a smaller room than desired to fight out the tactical battles, with the result that the German fleet would sometimes seek refuge under the couch!
