Drone launching against planets in strategic

Does anyone know how to get a drone carrier to launch drones in strategic combat when the only enemy present is a planet? Drones already launched will target the planet just fine when nothing else is left, but I've tried without success to change the carrier's strategy settings to get it to launch in combat with no other threat present.

Re: Drone launching against planets in strategic

I thought that a previous patch stopped anti-planet drones from launching in strategic combat because they would be launched with anti-ship drones even if there was no planet. I tinkered with this, wow, probably over a year ago. I seem to remember not getting anti-planet drones to ever launch. I remember trying to fool the game by making all drones anti-ship drones (so they launch) - but designing some of them with components and strategies for anti-planet. I seem to remember this working but I could be mistaken as it has been a long time. You would have to control the launching of these drones by keeping their carrier out of combat unless there is a planet in the sector. If you try this, let us know the results. This may not work if there is no ship present, though, as your question mentions.
