OT: Alien life form?
Since so many people are sharing their 'discoveries' on the net here, I thought I'd bring something that I found to your attention:
http://z.about.com/d/urbanlegends/1/...t_is_it_sm.jpg It comes from the 'urban legends' section of the About.com site and apparently is getting sent around as an email. Though it is disturbingly realistic, it is an artistic creation (a 'sculpture') meant to blur the line between humans and animals. http://urbanlegends.about.com/library/bl_half_human.htm Netlore Archive: Circulating via email, an unsettling photograph of what appears to be a half-human, half-animal creature suckling her hybrid offspring. ... The strange, half-human creatures in the image above are neither real nor a hoax; they are part of a sculpture by Australian artist Patricia Piccinini entitled "The Young Family," which, in turn, is part of a larger installation called "We Are Family," described by Jane Silversmith of the Australian Council for the Arts as an exploration of "the changing relationship between what is considered natural and what is considered artificial." --- Maybe this Patricia Piccinini would make a good 'special effects' person for movie aliens? http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif She also has her own site with more pictures of other works. http://www.patriciapiccinini.net/ Many of these are also both fascinating and disturbing at the same time. |
Re: OT: Alien life form?
That is one poorly designed web site... interesting concept nontheless.

Re: OT: Alien life form?
Do you want to know what is really sad about that image? There is some guy out their that with enough consumed beer, would have sex with it. (Especially if it were live.)

Excuse me while I pour bleach over my eyes.

Re: OT: Alien life form?
Reminds me of the "meat" from the TV version of HitchHiker's Guide.
"Are you sure you wouldn't like my liver sir? It should be nice and tender by now, I've been force feeding myself for weeks." |
Re: OT: Alien life form?
"I'll just go off and shoot meself"
"Oh, no" "Don't worry sir, I'll be very humane about it" |
Re: OT: Alien life form?
That creature needs to have either fur or clothes. It's just not decent in the picture.

Re: OT: Alien life form?
Yes, disturbing at first but I can look past my biases and nature to see the wonder of possible life forms. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/shock.gif
