Have They Ever Made A Game

Have they ever made a game that combines the best of a FPS with that of a space flight sim such as freelancer or wing commander?

Wouldn't it be grand if there was an adventure game that not only takes place in space as in a 3d Freespace type of game, but one that also allows a player to move about places like in a FPS.

You could combine RPG with FPS and mix in Space Sims to make one hell of a game. Why do you think this hasn't been done before? Can it be done?

Star Wars Galaxies is a pusedo-FPS/RPG with Freelancer style space combat.
