How to fix \"smooshed\" graphics on widescreen LCDs
Like on Laptops, etc with "Widescreen" LCDs.
http://img380.imageshack.us/img380/5...spcamo13wi.gif You get this with 1024x764 on a 1280x768 Widescreen Laptop LCD; looks ugly doesn't it? Go to the desktop. Rightclick on desktop, select properties. Bring up the Settings tab Advanced And proceed to look around in there for something that says "full screen mode" or to the extent therof. Deactivicate it; and you'll get this http://img430.imageshack.us/img430/1...spcamo28eu.gif The screen will now be the proper proportion |
Re: How to fix \"smooshed\" graphics on widescreen LCDs
The other option is to run the game in windowed mode, but to use a higher screen res than native mode for the LCD.
The game will then use the desktop area, reduced by the space for the windows task bar at the bottom. (As described in the game guide, it will not like task bars moved to the side, double hight ones, and in especial, if you have the dreaded "auto-hide" on http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif. It should then keep the correct proportions in x and y without any squashing, even on a "wide screen" laptop LCD, or those with other "manufacturers own non-windows standard modes" like 1450 by something or other. (in full screen mode, it will assume that you are trying to drive a CRT monitor at the higher res, which is not a problem as these can resize to fit, but it is a problem with LCD monitors which cannot be driven at resolutions > "native" mode, and the attempt will report a DirectX error or a hardware mode error http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/frown.gif - just do not try to drive an LCD monitor at a full-screen mode greater than native. ) Cheers Andy |
