Hey check this out

I went to trade the toltayan level 2 mineral exraction for level 2 ship const. and level 2 Prop.
They are a standard AI no patchs Version 1.35.
They changed the trade a unknown ship and unkown tech. I figured that I would see what they wer offering so I accepted.
I got a carrier that was almost completely distroyed. Has one engine, one bay left and cargo level 1 (which I already had) The AI just robbed me blind in that deal.

Yea, the ship they gave me had been blown away in battle between the toltayan and another race. I have to limp it back to my system across the toltayan's enemy system and 8 of the toltayan systems to reach my home. it will take nearly 100 turns with only one engine. Plus the systems between the carrier and my borders are unexpored so it may even take longer to find the path home.
By that time, I will aready have researched carriers.

Include it in the next trade back to them....trade is unpredictable at best. I never do it....

Re: Hey check this out

Yeah, the AI can be a real jerk when trading things, I once had this game in wich I got very far ahead of the AI, and because I liked a bit more of a challenge I offered the AI a trade he couldn't refuse:

I scrapped almost all my ships and offered all my planets to the AI and all I asked in return were two planets of his, I was planning to rebuild my empire from these planets wich should be possible because I was far ahead in tech. Ofcourse the AI accepted

You can guess how suprised I was when I found out the next turn that the two planets the AI gave me had no population, both were exterminated by a plague... with no population, no production and no means of aquiring other ships I had lost the game....

next thing you know the computer will be trying to ship your *** out to a reservation. (At least you'll be able to rip it off with casinos in another hundred years)

The whole point of this post is that the AI has gotten a little better since the Last patch.

There was no way to know what kind of ship I was going to get until after I accepted the trade.

I've just had a wierd experience as well:

I was playing the Terrans and was in first place and I had a partnership treaty with the Abbidon who were in Last place. One of their main planets was blockaded (for several turns) by the Amonkorie (who were in fourth) and just had a trade alliance with the Abbidon. Since I was good friends with the Abbidon and wanted to help them out, I demanded the Amonkorie leave the planet - which they did.

Except, when they left - they glassed the planet.

Let's just say the Abbidon on Sephrandis V did not die in vain.

The Terrans (Me) abandoned their treaty with the Amonkorie and struck their largest fleet - and left nothing behind.
