swimming cavalry
Hello All
Troll alert! Troll alert!..... thats a joke son. A few versions ago someone went to the trouble of providing the game with dismounted cavalry (formation 412 and 413 in the german OOB for example) Thanks very much for doing this, but I think maybe there was an omission, that the cavalry transports used in these formations cant swim, the permanently mounted cavalry can swim, I wonder if this can be "fixed"? Best Regards Chuck. |
Re: swimming cavalry
As to the transports, these are probably 3-4 horses per crewman acting as horse holders. The OOB designer probably decided that 1 guy trying to control 4 swimming horses on leads would lose control of the led bunch (if he could evem lead them to water in the first place). And I would tend to agree. Cheers Andy |
Re: swimming cavalry
NO "cavalry transport" units swim so it's consistent across all the OOB's
SOME cavalry swims at a speed of 1, some at a speed of 2 and some not at all. This is what happens when many different OOB designers decide to "do their own thing" and in the past and we didn't have the OOB checking utilities we do now. However, before we can check things we usually have to know what to check FOR. Nobodys complained about cavalry in ages so we had no reason to check this Thank you for bringing this issue to our attention. One day, perhaps, with time permitting, we'll look into this. Don |
Re: swimming cavalry and infantery
I found too this bug in polish OOB polish cavalery can't swimm has swimm 0 in OOB but carrys raft in river crosing misions. I think that is the problem in all OOBs if cavalery can't swimm , carry raft because is infantery clone. But can't be carry by this raft because is too havy. That is too non historical because horses can swimm and horse units like cavalery , cavalery transports but no taczanka and wagons shuld swimm without rafts on horses only. Speed 2 should be good for this because horses are not very fast in water.
I found too a bug in rafts. They can carry 14 soliders but polish has 19 soliders in squad so is proplem with river crossing misions on polish side |
Re: swimming cavalry and infantery
OOPS! I've made a note of that for the future Don |
Re: swimming cavalry
Hi Andy
I should point out that in this formation the cavalry transport unit is not a transport unit per see but is meant to be a rough approximation of the cavalrys dismounted horses ie the only unit available in an full OOB and no classes left. In a river crossing one rider would be available to control each horse. Regards Chuck. |
