I can\'t believe it
I like to play long campaigns, and generate them out to 200 battles. It takes quite a while to get my 135 formations and 180=/- units properly set up, using the formation alphanumerics I choose for each, but I get it done. It takes a half hour to an hour to set up the campaign and given that I am new (very new) to winSPWW2 v1.0 and I am not used to the menu it took a bit longer. I was put off by the fail safe to delete a UNIT, the y/n that comes up each time I needed to delete, and this took additional time. Finally I finished, had my battalion reinforced and ready, and accidentally hit "exit".
Bye the xxxx bye everything and all my hour and a half work. Where the hexx is the little y/n when you need it? Whose idea was this anyway? GRRRRRRRRR!!!! |
Re: I can\'t believe it
Sorry you lost all your work but we do provide a message at the top of the screen ( where all messages are displayed.....) that says about "EXIT"...
"Exit back to opening menu. CAUTION!! This cancels any purchasing!" Most people this happens to only do it once. You're misfortune is you were setting up a large force and it hurts more. There was a suggestion made in the past that this should be a y/n but others complainted too many y/n's are a PITA so we added the warning Don |
Re: I can\'t believe it
I had this happen more than once, especially because the exit-button is located where the done-button was in the dos-version.
I would prefer an additional y/n over losing hours of work. Could even be configurable via the ini-file, so nobody would have too many y/n's for their taste. |
Re: I can\'t believe it
I should have known better but I was suffering from eye fatigue by then, trying to rush as I had to get up at 4:30 the next morning and rushin' leads to ambushes. I ambushed myself and got wiped out. I knew and should have done better. It was just that after all those y/ns. why not just that one more?

Re: I can\'t believe it
i actually agree i do this when im tired cos im the buttons are close, to prevent this type of situation i can live with a ini file prompt http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

Re: I can\'t believe it
yeah, I've done that too but as DRG says you only do it once - or if you're really stupid like me then 3 times http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif The power of negative reinforcement is amazing isn't it?
