Manchukuo Campaign Naming Problem
 

I found my first bug!

Campaigns -> Generate -> Manchukuo vs. any nations.

I end up with commanders who have US/Standard English ranks, and Middle Eastern names--for example, LtC Naffak, Maj A'Saada, Cpt al-Naffak, 1Lt's al-Sapir, Alati, al-Fahmy, Saqqaf, Gamasy, and Zayyat, and last but not least, Sgt Mabruk.

Is it just me, or do these not sound like Chino-Manchurio-Koreo-Mongolian-Russo-Nippo names? http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif

As Chinese were the overwhelming majority, wholesale importation of one of the two Chinese namelists would work.

Sure, Manchukuo's a tiny nation, but if it's in there, it may as well be done right. After all, we can have accurate Hungarian names for units, so I don't think it's too much to ask this be put in the bug list.

There does not seem to be a rnk03.txt - an error. The default if no rank file is the standard English names.

(Simply copy and rename the Chinese one should do, or japanese perhaps ?) till the next poatch fixes that one.

The LDR03.txt file seems to be filled with Arab names - obviously the wrong file here. Same cure - copy the chinese (14 or 21) over, for now.

From what I've come up with so far, I'd say Chinese ranks are most appropriate. The Japanese reorganized the warlord armies, but--so far--nothing I've read indicates that they (necessarily) forced IJA rank structure.

The Syrian name list from MBT was put in as a placeholder and then I moved on to other issues and forgot to put the proper Chinese names and ranks in place.

Make a copy of Ldr21.dat ( found under \Game Data\Names ) someplace then rename it Ldr03.dat and put it back into \Game Data\Names then go to \Game Data\Ranks and copy Rnk21.dat somplace then rename it Rnk03.dat and put it back into \Game Data\Ranks and everything will be as it should be until we issue a proper patch.

Good catch. Nobody else noticed it for months

Lovely. the Slovak names and ranks were missed as well. I'll go through the entire set this weekend
