Changing starting rank of A0 in long campaigns

hiya,

is there any way to change the A0 default (starting) rank in long campaigns? i play some small (company sized) LCs and would like A0 to begin as a Capt. or maybe a 1st Lt. Lt. Col. seems a tad "heavy" for a company CO.

thanks,

No. Rank change is reserved for scenarios. However, if you feel ambitious you can start your campaign and save it, go to the save folder and rename the save game as an empty sceanrio. Load the "sceanrio" in the scenario editor and then edit the leaders rank. Once that's done, rename the "scenario" back to being a save game and your A0 is now a captain.

However...... though it CAN be done I don't know of anyone who has actually done it ( besides me.....) and although I'm nearly 100% certain this will not cause a problem I'm not actully 100% certain it won't either

Thanks Don. I'll give it a rip and report back (after I complete the campaign) to let you know if I encountered any problems.

Best regards,
Vic

Re: Changing starting rank of A0 in long campaigns

Sorry this took so long. People expect me to actually WORK instead of fooling around with SPWW2. Your hint worked like a champ with one caveat. The scenario editor evidently "doesn't know" about a turn zero (deployment). So if one does the tweek (following the protocol you suggested) by saving the battle in deployment phase when one reurns to the battle it's turn 1 instead of turn 0. Soooooo...do your deployment and start the battle. AT THE BEGINNING of turn 1 do the rank change drill. If you do the change at the end of turn 1 when you return it'll be the beginning of turn 1 again and you will get in effect TWO first turns.

Best,
Vic
