1.30 patch???
 

Just a quick post (late for work)....Anyone know where I can find a copy of the 1.3 patch. Need it for creating an .emp file for play by web.....had to format harddrive recently and re-install seiv, now all I have is 1.35

any help would be appreciated.....

I could download it from the Shrapnel server, unzip, and resave in a non-password *.zip file... I don't think that would be considered a breach of contract (but I won't, because I don't want to take the chance http://www.shrapnelgames.com/ubb/images/icons/icon7.gif ). Send an e-mail to Richard, he should be able to help.

Will,

I can't imagine there would be any restriction against this. You aren't required to upgrade to the latest patch, and we wouldn't be giving him anything that he could use without buying the retail Version of the game.

Deathstalker,

I'll email you a link where you can download the patch4 (1.30) zip file. I also use ver 1.30 and 1.35. Here's what you can do, and it works great.

1. Rename your current "Space Empires IV" desktop icon as "Space Empires IV Ver 1_35"

2. Make a new folder somewhere in your computer called "Version 1_30".

3. Run a fresh install from the SEIV cd and when it brings up the install path, change the default to your new folder created in step 2.

4. Unzip and run the patch4.exe file, and again when it prompts you with the load path, change it to the "Version 1_30/Space Empires" folder.

5. Rename your new Space Empires desktop icon as Space Empires Version 1_30.

Once this is done you can run either Version depending upon whom you are playing against in your PBEM game.

As we all know the 1.35 patch has a problem with the command prompt run option, so we have had to stick to ver 1.30 in our Play by Web testing. I came up with this as a way to be able to do that and also play around with the map editor in ver 1.35.
