Need Some Image Help Plz
Hello,
I have had Dom2 since it was released, but I just now started modding. I have got down the edditing fairly well, however the images are not working out. I am using Paint Shop Pro 6 (which can save as tga.). I have created unit images of the correct dimentions and all that, but I can not get them to appear in the game. How can I get them to work? I know it must be easy, if you know what do, that is. I have tried many logical things; no luck. More specific questions: -Where should I put the tga files within the dom2/mods folder and what path name should connect to it from the sprite 1 an 2 commands in the new units' set up? I set it up the way I saw it in another mod, but that did not work. -What advice is there for unit grapthic creation/editing? -Are there any common problems that may be to blame? I have seen some cool mods and want to create my own, but without graphics I can't get anywhere. Thankyou in advance for anyone's help. I hope you do not mind explaining some simple things. |
Re: Need Some Image Help Plz
I have not done any unit modding, but looking quickly at the Oceania mod for direction I will try to help until someone more knowledgeable comes along.
Quote:
1. Oceania.dm file in the 'mods' directory. 2. A folder named 'Oceania' also in the 'mods' directory. 3. The sprite commands follow: #selectmonster 1043 #spr1 "./oceania/ichtso1.tga" #spr2 "./oceania/ichtso2.tga" #end The "./oceania/" tells the game to look in the current directory ('mods') for a folder named oceania, then the "ichtso1.tga" is the unit image within that folder specified to use for the units icon. I hope that explains the path enough to get you rolling. I will leave the rest of your questions to someone with some actual experience modding units! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/laugh.gif |
Re: Need Some Image Help Plz
Thankyou for the bit help you gave. To tell the truth, I have figured out the problem I had(only after several more frustrating hours though). I did not have a folder for the mod in which to put the tga files(duh). Anyway, I have now fixed it. Thankyou for trying to help, though.
