Air Assault Task Force BETA DEMO
As we approach release on this newest addition to the ProSIM family, we thought we would give all of our fans a sample of what was in store for the final release. We have just released the BETA DEMO version of Air Assault Task Force.
This playable DEMO contains only two scenarios, set at the Joint Readiness Training Center at Fort Polk, Louisiana. The first is an airfield seizure. The second is an air assault on the fabled city of Shugart-Gordon. Both of these scenarios also ship with the release version of the game. The Flash-based tutorial is also included with this DEMO version. The DEMO lacks the full featured scenario builder, multiplayer (up to 10 players), and 100-page printed manual that will ship with the release version of the game. Also, unlike the release version, it cannot be installed over our previous, ATF Engine games to instantly upgrade those games. To download the DEMO, go to: http://www.prosimco.com/free_demo.htm#aatf Stay tuned to the AATF website at: http://www.prosimco.com/aatf.htm for updates on this ultra-realistic game as it nears release. We will be frequently posting updates on the production schedule, latest news, and press releases about the game. |
Re: Air Assault Task Force BETA DEMO
Hi all,
Thanks for the beta demo. I have played the first scenario and enjoyed it quite a bit. The interface is much more comfortable and intuitive than in previous games. Will the changes be backwards compatible with previous games as in the past? I wonder if the interface layout will be made more artistically interesting? The provided tutorial is clear and concise. I hope it ships with a lot of short and small scenarios. Like many others I have only so much time for wargaming and short quick sceanrios are always appreciated. Only playing the one scenario I won't offer any more observations. I will post again after playing the "larger demo scenario". Regards John |
Re: Air Assault Task Force BETA DEMO
Greetings,
Having played the demo I just thought I'd share a few thoughts: The move to satellite imagery for the maps is brilliant! Much better than what I've seen before. One suggestion though, please can we have a ground elevation readout so you can trace a path across a map and see what the ground is doing beneath the cursor (I know, if I could read maps better I would know the answer . . . .). The new orders interface and 'select unit-select order' approach works really well. I especially like the '!' button to issue individual missions to units - very user-friendly. One problem I have though is that when the shooting starts and I get the blood-curdling screams I don't always know who's getting hit, one of my units or the enemy? Finally, when reading the OPORD screen I couldn't scroll with the mouse wheel. Don't know if that's a problem with my machine or the demo, I must confess. Keep up the good work and thanks for reading! RBG http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif |

Thanks for the comments. I am happy to report that much of the stuff you point out has been fixed already or will soon be policed up for the final release version. Thank you very much for your input!
