Installing races
 

I see the basic picture on how to install a race file but what about the AI? Can you set AI for just one race, or do you copy the new ai over the old files? Basicly how do you put this all together?

I've searched for an explanation on how to do this and couldn't find one. If you could tell me or direct me to a post I'd appreciate it.

If you have a basic understanding of how to add a race, then the rest is as simple as renaming a file.

Say you just downloaded a new race with AI. Simply unzip that race, (assuming that it is NOT zipped with directories on) into your C:\Program Files\Shrapnel Games\Malfador Machinations\Space Empires IV\pictures\races folder.

Everything you need to make the race work should be then be put in its proper place. If the race contains EMP files, just copy them to the Empires folder.

Adding AI is simple. Just be sure that the AI name matches your race name.

New_AI_Planet_Types to Borg_AI_Planet_Types

Thanks for the help, I figured it out. Now of course with the borg it works but I get an error about -Unknown value "Maximum Weapon Range" for fleets default strategy in record "Fleet settings". every turn and the kilingon and cardasians won't load the race profile at all but I get the picture. I'll have to play around with it more i'm sure

When I set up the UCP races, I did not include any EMP files with them because many people wanted to set the races up themselves. You may need to set them up according to the way you want them to play, or if you want, I can send you via email, the EMP files for 5k RP that I am using for each race.
