Certain map commands - Illwinter, please help!
I simply cannot get the following commands to work:
#computerplayer #seaplayers #landplayers I input them into .map files and get no response from the game when creating new games. It neither prevents me from starting the game when making an illegal choice (like too many/few players, human player for AI-designated country) nor does it force the proper selections once the game starts (computerplayer is still played by the human if chosen). I follow the proper syntax. I'm just not getting a response. Normally, I expect a game not to begin if the requirements aren't met/are broken. That's the way it worked on Dom 2 but it just doesn't do that on Dom3 for me, even after an uninstall and reinstall. Ideas? Help! |

Heck, I can't get the game to recognize new maps at all. It's like it's displaying the new map's .tga file under the background image. What's your secret to getting to that stage of problems?

Frank - did you perhaps replace an existing game with another game of the same name? If that's the case, it's a known bug and restarting the program gets rid of that.

No. I'm talking about the Map Editor. No games were created, it's just trying to make a map at all. It won't do it. Nor will it make a game off of one of the newly imported maps.

Re: Certain map commands - Illwinter, please help
I have a different result from #computerplayer (I have tried the other limiters) but Im doing it from server mode. When I set #computerplayer it allows people to select the nation, but then it doesnt allow them to play it. I dont really care if it allows the selection or not but I wish it would match. Allowing human selection should allow human play (actually Id prefer that), or lock it into AI and automatically close it from selection.
For me to get a friendlier game setup I have to double up the commands. If I randomly select a computerplayer then I have to also put in a closed command on that nation number to remove it from the selection list. |
