Re: Death 9 damage calculations
I'm pretty sure that's what it means. At least, testing seems to concur. So, it's probably a (2+DRN versus DRN) attack if the MR fails. R'yleh mind blasts use this convention. There is a MR check for the paralyzation damage, and I think a further MR check to resist the damage. So, you can mind blast someone over and over again to keep him paralyzed and whittle away at this HP. Eventually, you'll get a good DRN result and kill him outright. I really like the EA R'yleh assassins. Out of the box, they are Personal luck/Astral shield capable as soon as you can research it. If you want horror mark suicide bombers, all you need is a starshine skullcap.

Death 9 damage calculations
It says 2 (am+mr) or something like that. I don't really understand this equation.
MR is magic resistance. AM is what? What would be the damage, on average, to say a 10 MR human unit? Or an 18 MR Pretender? |
Re: Death 9 damage calculations
It's actually an, if I recall correctly. As in Armor-Negating.
I'm still confused as to how it exactly works. Perhaps 2 base Armor-Negating damage with a MR roll to see if additional damage from the weapon/str also negates armor? Hard to say, but I do know that my Helhirdlings with a Death 9/Blood 9 Bless were cutting through enemy lines like nobody's business. |
Re: Death 9 damage calculations
Manual doesn't seem to give a clear explanation. You could add this to the manual typo thread.

Re: Death 9 damage calculations
I read it like do 2 extra armor negating damage, if enemy fails his magic resistance roll.
