Left over pretender points ought to do something.

I was reading Tom VS. Bruce, and for some reason, after reading a comment that Tom made, I got the idea that leftover points at god creation could be be used for something. My suggestion is 10gold per leftover point; maybe also some extra resources on turn1, I dunno. Just a thought.

A few of us brought that up about Dom2, that left over points could go towards gold or some such. It's even more of an issue with Dom3, because you can't change your special dominion or choice of castle to get rid of points.

Even worse, of course, is when you have a setup that leaves you with -2 points : It'd be _so_ bloody nice if you either got gold for left over points, or could go into debt for a few points. Going from -2 points to 37 points sucks.

You probably mean to say "Going from -2 points to 38 points suck" http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

They already do something. They make you feel guilty.

Hum 10 gold by leftover point is huge. Imprisoned pretenders with 2000+ gold at start and 2-3 forts at turn 10 would be common (or there should be a maximum like 39 leftover points, after all if you have 40 you can change a scale). Anyway I would find better a discount on the first empowerement of your pretender, and only for already known magic paths, if it's not too hard to implement. So if you lack some points to attain a magic level you can complete later with gems, but it's still better to use all your points.

Hmm, you could modify the scales so they go from having -3 - +3 to -12 to 12. That would mean a scale is worth 5 points each and no one would care if they have 4 missing points.

This is a very good suggestion actually. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/smile.gif

Other stuff left-over points could be used for:

Extra province defense in home province
Minor magic items
An extra scout at start
An extra commander at start
5-10 initital research points
starting experience for your commander or troops
extra population in your home province
more titles for your pretender
down-payment on Dominions 4

Hey, more titles! That'd be nice! 1 more title if any points are left, 2 for 9, 3 for 19, 4 for 29, 5 for 39.

40 or more points left and your god gets the special title "The Overconfident."
