Water Breathing Items: Manual vs. Game
Hey all, sorry if this has been mentioned before, but in the manual it says that the Sea King's goblet gives Water Breathing to 100 troops, but in the game it only gives it to 50. Also, the Barrel of Air says 150 troops in the manual, but only 75 in the game. I am currently mounting an extremely difficult assault on Oceania who has kelp forts up in every costal province and I wish the manual numbers were the correct ones. I'm just wondering if there is some reason for this besides a manual error. Like maybe I'm doing something wrong, or have some element incorrect.
Thanks! |
Re: Water Breathing Items: Manual vs. Game
The manual numbers are what the developers probably meant the items to have. The numbers listed in the items' descriptions are those the items had in DomII. I can't say whether or not only the descriptions are old. However, the game won't allow you to take too many troops underwater. You can't drown your units unless you take the goblet away from a commander that is underwater, or they are left to the bottom of the sea without a commander.

Re: Water Breathing Items: Manual vs. Game
I think the numbers are misleading because they refer to size units not numbers of troops. The goblet allows 100 Size 1 troops, 50 size 2 troops etc.

Re: Water Breathing Items: Manual vs. Game
Lets stick to the manual. 150 people is nicer than 75. And it is easier to change the game than the manual http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

I'm using human infantry, so what is a size 1 troop? A Hoburg?

Re: Water Breathing Items: Manual vs. Game
BTW next game I'm playing Oceania. They own the seas, and most of their troops can just grow legs and fight on the surface with no items required. If you find some indie mages you're in business.
Thanks for the reply Kristoffer. Awesome game, btw. I just wish I was born with the ability to concoct brilliant strategies like most of the other posters on here. |

Yes. A Hoburg is size 1. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif
If you click on "Hit Points" in the unit information screen, it gives you that unit's size. |
