Command to rename commanders?

Apologies - I know this information must be in the manual or in FAQs somewhere, but I have spent about an hour fiddling and I can't find it. How do you rename commanders in a game that you have set the "renaming" option to yes? Thanks in advance for the help!

Go to the commander screen (where it shows the statistics of the commander) and press R ... or was it shift+R ... anyway.

Dont worry ssin, i did the same thing when i tried to figure it out my first time.
