map project Conundrum

Im running a script over and over to try and give me a maximum settings map that Id be willing to put some work into. 11000x11000 pixels and 1500 provinces, sea 20% and mountains 50% which gives it a maze labyrinth effect. Plus some specific color choices. It takes 2-3 hours for my main server to generate each one. So far this is the best Ive gotten...

The colors seemed ok but it didnt seem as playable as Id like.

This map is NOT meant to be fair and playable in a multiplayer game. Its meant to support some 79-player games and possibly ones setup with 2/3 as computer players goosed up to the point that the humans will be highly recommended to form alliances.

i think that part of the problem is that the heightmap data isn't scaling properly with the rest of the map. the mountain ranges and forest look very chaotic compared to the oceans because of them being generated according to the provinces rather than the other way around.

Yes Im not thrilled with the way the Dom3 generator does its water provinces. I THINK that 20% means 20% of the provinces but not 20% of the map since some maps seem to have alot of water. Im not even sure if the 20% works at all. And the color items are definetly broken.

how is your map generator coming? http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

i've nearly got all of the scripting commands i need for all of the features i have implemented. hopefully i'll have a windows build of the console version later on tonight. i could muck around with some of the settings and try to generate a map for you, if you want. without the sprites if you like, i know your not a fan of the test ones i'm using
