Is there some way to extract the game music and listen to it without having dominions in minimised in the background?

It is there, but not on the same CD. The Dominions 3 soundtrack is from 3 CDs.

Early era and main menu music is from Dr�m.
Middle is from Cantigas de Santa Maria
Late is from the fiddle CD.

You can download several pieces of music from Falsobordone's website ! At least first track from Dominions2 and another one from Dominions3.
They're supposed to be apetite teasers, and they're for free.
