Coupla SE5 burning questions
More than a couple actually...
1) If I reorder the construction queue and place some thing at the top, do I lose construction on what was previously at the top like in SE4? (there's no warning message) 2) How do I get the equivalent of the "Usage" report under the construction queue? 3) Is there any way to distinguish your sight distance from your anti-cloak sensor distance. Seems like your sight is shown by green hexes, but your anti-cloak "sight" can only be determined by looking at your components and counting hexes. 4) Has anyone gotten a population transport to do anything by using the minister? It's the only one I've tried. Do any ministers work? I'm using a custom made empire; does that make a difference? 5) Are research points lost when you research the last level of an area? It seems you can only control your research to the nearest 1% and that can be big if you have lots of points available. What happens to the left over? 6) What's everyone's favorite view setup. I am not happy with anything so far. The best I've found is F4 (top down) zoomed out so that the whole system is on screen and locked. This makes the planet icons/flag kinda useless. Either they are too small or too big. Is there some setting to make this better? 7) How exactly do Resupply Depots work? It seems like they will distribute their stuff to ships, planets and units anywhere in the system without ships having to be in the same sector. If this is true, then it would seem that there are 2 major ways to resupply (aside from generated supplies): a) being in the same system as a RD will help, but b) you can load supplies from any planet and after you leave the RD will refill the planet. |

I can only answer 2 of these:
1. I don't believe you lose the construction, but can be easily tested. 6. I prefer the 3d actually, w/ small flags. I've become quite fond of it. |

1. Not sure.
2. Custom layout. More details later. 3. They're the same. If you have, say, Tachyon sensors at range 2 level 5 and Basic at range 9 level 1, you'll scan at range 9 level 5. 4. Haven't tried. 5. It goes into the Great Beyond. 6. Skewed and roated as needed. Get SJ's Flag mod to make the flags smaller without affecting the useful par. 7. Yes. The make 500 supplies per turn and send it out to any ship in the system, plus some extra IIRC if you're at the actual planet. |

For the system view, I prefer skewed, locked and zoomed out so that the top and bottom of the sector fits the view zone just right. Things are a little small, but at least you don't have to do any rotating around and you can still make out what's on the map. I've to say I really dislike the overall way the whole hex view works, though.

Its not the hex view so much as the systems being twice as wide as SE4's. It makes it a lot harder to get everything in view at the same time.

Regarding #2, there are no options in custom layout for "usage". Oversight?

On 1- you don't lose construction time. When you replace the item at the front of the que, the time remaining will shoot up, but it'll go back down when that item returns to the front of the line.

Since you are testing…
Do you still lose the minerals, organics, and radioactives? Do you take a time penalty if the queue is in emergency build and you change projects? |

I'd imagine that not losing construction time means the resources remain spent.
