What Do You Like Most About SE V?
With all the problems the game has had since its release I thought it would be nice to bring up some of the great things the game has to offer.
While most of us seem to be focused on the issue items, we can all agree that there is at least one or two great inovations and cool things we like about SE V. For me it would have to be the 3d systems. The planets even rotate. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif The suns are huge, and I can zoom in and out adjust the angle of my view, and truly get the feel for space with this new 3d system view. I like the art work and the general look of the game. I think the artists did a great job on the UI and feel that they succeeded in giving it a professional look and feel. The modding capabilities of SE V are modders wet dream. No other game that I can recall gave so much ability to the modding community without charge. |

1. Weapon combat range goes out to 500 units (ls maybe?).
2. Weapon to hit chances can be fully customized across all ranges. 3. Weapon damage can be fully customized across all ranges. 4. Greater control for the modder over player vehicle creation. 5. Customized small units such as my Shuttles, Pinnace, External Ordinance (XO) Pods, and Homing All the Way Killer (HAWK) Pods. Ok this is a shameless pump. 6. Can grant small units the ability to warp or not. 7. Control over defense placement in any given sector. That’s good for now, maybe I’ll add more later. |
Re: What Do You Like Most About SE V?
I just started playing so have kind of a virgin view of this game. I like the depth of the tech tree and the numerous political options. Rome total war was my favorite strategy game but it didnt have the depth this game offers.
Artwork in general is really good. To me the GUI isnt all that bad now that Im kind of used to it. Great options in ship and weapons, almost unlimited. Love the ability to minimize the game to the task bar may not seem like much but I never had this before and really like that. This is the first space strategy game I've tried that I actually really like and am having a great time playing and trying to learn the game. So what I like most is that im having a great time and playing gives my mind a break from the stress of the 4x game called real life. |
Re: What Do You Like Most About SE V?
The construction quo got much better. points spilling over and multiple ships getting done in 1 turn is brilliant.
I also kinda like the UI, you can comand the whole empire from the top row of buttons with the specifically selected object in a out of the way but not inconvinient place(lower right side), theres a button for most everything your ships can do, and I like how they expand(cargo button gives you lots of cargo choices, maintinence button, further orders ect) so as not to clutter the display with eldom used stuff. Also if that doesn't work I got the right click menu and the hotkeys, so no matter what I have about 3 different ways to order stuff around. I like the new fog of war and sensors, makes the game interesting, more tactical, and makes starbases and satelites even more useful. The new AI scripts seem more owerful, I just wish I knew how to program..... The tech tree is a bit better now, feels more like actual research, but I kinda want it to be interlaced(IE I need more then 1 tech to get somesof the beter stuff, like in Stars!, missiles needed propulsion and weapon tech) |

I like that it will eventually get fixed http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...ies/tongue.gif
Aside from that, amazing possibilites for modding is just completely awesome! |

I like the hex grid system in the system view.
I like the RTS tactical combat so 1 team doesn't get splashed coming through warp points. I like all the shiny new graphics. I like the new alliance system. I like watching my fighters chew apart an entire fleet of enemy ships. I like retreat. |
